Ribbons: Traditional Patterns
The favorite of many stitchers, this piece has a variety of stitches and patterns.

Morning Glory
The morning glory was imported to Japan and became an important medicinal herb. Our study will be worked in traditional Rozashi threads.

Lone Pine
The pine tree [matsu] is a much-revered symbol in Japanese culture. Our pine tree is a sampler of the basic stitches of Rozashi.
Cherry Blossoms
Cherry Blossoms, Sakura, are the most popular early spring images in Japanese Art. This Rozashi study is worked in the traditional threads designed especially for the ro. The colors are the traditional soft pinks.
Bamboo
The subject of Rozashi study is stylized bamboo. The colors in the design range from very dark green to light green and include metallic gold. It is traditional to Rozashi.
One Iris
The iris is a favorite art image in Japan. It was originally used in medicene. This is a beginner piece suitable for all levels.
Girl in Red
An elegant small design of a girl in a red kimono with an obi belt. Predominant colors in this piece are white, black and red.
Bamboo at Midnight
Bamboo in the textile arts is a favorite motif. It is one of the three friends plants . Our Bamboo is stitched in the traditional Rozashi stitches. The piece is inspired by a motif from a Noh robe.
Flying Crane
The Flying Crane is an ancient traditional Japanese design. Finished piece measures approximately 5″x5″ (12.5 cm x 12.5 cm). An intermediate level piece.
Bird: From Fumiko's Studio
This beautiful tropical bird is a design from Fumiko’s studio. The colors are traditional to Rozashi, with the use of a special urushi thread in the tail feathers.
Pine Bark and Patterns
Stylized pine bark is used in many art forms in Japan. Its diamond shapes form indentions. The pine bark of our study is worked in the colors of the ancient imari so loved in Japan, and is the edge of the stylized diamond pattern.
