The beautiful butterflies are swarming over a plot of tall grass. They are a rainbow of colors ranging from light purples and taupe to buttercup pale yellow. The threads are silk, brocade – a combination of silks, silver metallic, and a variegated urushi thread that combines pastels with gold and silver.

Three Butterflies is a study in the basics of Rozashi. The stitches are traditional to Rozashi. How the stitches are applies creates beautiful combinations that can challenge the beginner as well as the more practiced student. The stitches are upright

The silk threads and the other threads are all traditional and are created to fit the ro, the ground fabric.

The pale blue background complements the pastels used in the piece.
